EPISD Board of Directors Approve $15,000 Donation from Eagle Pass Heroes

On November 10, 2020, Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Directors unanimously approved a $15,000.00 donation from local non-profit organization, Eagle Pass HEROES. The funds donated by Eagle Pass HEROES will be matched by Eagle Pass Independent School District to provide much needed resources to special education teachers in the district.

“The special education teachers were reaching out to us and expressing the struggles they were encountering with online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Catrina Longoria, Eagle Pass HEROES’ Executive Director. “Our mission is to provide resources for children with special needs in our community and now, more than ever, we felt an obligation to help the teachers by providing them with the means to obtain the resources they need to effectively teach their students remotely and in the classroom,” said Ms. Longoria. “We are grateful for the support of the Board of Directors and their willingness to match our donation for the benefit of the special education teachers.” “Our donation along with the match by the school district means that each special education teacher will have the opportunity to obtain valuable instructional material and resources they need during this pandemic” concluded Ms. Longoria.

Eagle Pass HEROES is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed by a local group of individuals who were interested in improving access to resources for children with special needs in our community. A major component of Eagle Pass HEROES mission is to support teachers and paraprofessionals who work with children with special needs so that they can foster the development of our children.

Eagle Pass HEROES would like to thank their donors who contributed financial resources to make this donation possible. For more information about the donation or Eagle Pass HEROES, please contact Catrina Longoria at (830) 776-7644.
